Lotus Eye Hospital & Institute marked a significant milestone in its journey of delivering quality vision care with the inauguration of its 10th hospital at Erode Main Road, Kullampalayam, Gobichettipalayam, on 3rd October 2025. The new centre strengthens the institution's growing presence across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, bringing advanced ophthalmic services closer to the people of this rapidly developing region.
The hospital was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, K. A. Sengottaiyan, MLA of Gobichettipalayam, in the presence of distinguished guests, medical professionals, and members of the local community.
A Personal Homecoming
In her inaugural address, Sangeetha Sundaramoorthy, Managing Director, highlighted the emotional and historical connection between Lotus Eye Hospital and Gobichettipalayam, noting that the hospital's founder, the late Dr. Sundaramoorthy, hailed from this very town. “Gobichettipalayam holds a special place in our hearts, and expanding here is both a professional milestone and a personal tribute to our founder's roots,” she said.
She further observed that Gobichettipalayam has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, with the establishment of export houses, industries, and educational institutions — a development that has naturally increased demand for high-quality healthcare services, including specialised eye care.
Comprehensive Care, Close To Home
The centre provides a wide spectrum of services, including cataract and retina surgeries, treatment for corneal disorders, diabetic retinopathy management, glaucoma care, a dedicated squint clinic, and paediatric ophthalmology services. By introducing these specialised treatments within the town, residents can now access world-class eye care without travelling to larger cities such as Erode or Coimbatore.
Dr. Ramalingam, Director of the Hospital & Institute, emphasised that Lotus Eye Hospital has always upheld a culture of combining cutting-edge technology with compassionate patient care, and that staff at the new centre have undergone specialised training to ensure consistent, patient-focused service.
A Legacy Of Vision
To commemorate the launch, the hospital announced free eye check-ups at the Gobichettipalayam branch until 30th December 2025, encouraging residents to prioritise their vision health. Founded by the late Dr. Sundaramoorthy, Lotus Eye Hospital has treated over 80 lakh patients and performed more than 10 lakh eye surgeries, with over 100 awards recognising its excellence in eye care.
